*Marigny
– Warehouse*
One quick note about this page. Marigny and the
Warehouse district are NOT next to each other. Marigny is behind
the Quarter off of Esplanade and Warehouse is off of the Quarter
next the the river.
Circle Bar
1032 St. Charles Ave. , New Orleans, LA
(504) 588-2616
Located at Lee Circle, the Circle Bar is small and usually fairly
cramped. It hosts unique local bands and is home to a slew of
protective regulars. If you can get a seat it's fun to chill out
and people watch.
Ernst Cafe
600 S. Peters Street , New Orleans, LA
(504) 525-8544
A popular hangout for the after work crowd, you can munch snacks and
mingle at this fairly laid back haunt.
Lucy's Retired Surfer's Bar & Restaurant
701 Tchoupitoulas Street , New Orleans, LA
(504) 523-8995
Super fun drink selection. Think trinkets, like plastic sharks that
spew "blood" into some type of sweet blue, very alcoholic,
concoction. Think pineapple glasses. But be careful, Lucy's morphs
into a singles meat market during crowded after-work happy hours.
Mermaid Lounge
1100 Constance Street, New Orleans, LA
(504) 524-4747
Almost exclusively a live music venue, the Mermaid caters to offbeat
bands and a few local faves. The crowd is mostly made up of the
friends and family members of the bands performing.

This club at the top of the World Trade Center boasts a live DJ and
a spinning floor. The whole place rotates 360 degrees while you

crowd is made up of young club-goers and older businessmen. Dress
nice.
Vic's Kangaroo Cafe
636 Tchoupitoulas Street , New Orleans, LA
(504) 524-4329
A happy hour fave among the downtown work set. Mostly
twenty-something nine to fivers and neighborhood regulars. Very
chill.
Whiskey Blue at the W Hotel
333 Poydras , New Orleans, LA

Swanky and dark. Dress nice and mingle with businessmen and upscale
hotel guests.
R Bar
1431 Royal St. , New Orleans, LA
(504) 948-7499
There's a motorcycle over the bar and chalkboards in the bathroom
where you can write embarrassing things about your friends and foes.
The jukebox is usually seething with the discontented sounds of Lou
Reed and various college bands, and the pretentious looking crowd is
actually pretty friendly.
El Matador
504 Esplanade Ave., New Orleans, LA
(504) 569-8361
One of the bigger bars on Frenchman the Matador is a fun place to
catch loud bands or just hang around in the dimly-lighted space.
Legend has it that Vince Vaughn bartends there every once in a
while.
Checkpoint Charlie's
501 Esplanade Avenue , New Orleans, LA
(504) 949-7012
Checkpoint Charlie's is in the Igor's family. Open twenty four
hours a day, cheese fries, laundry services, and live bands.
